Emotional Stability With God

We all want to be emotionally stable. Emotions are feelings that come from our relationships with others and our environment. Emotions are fickle because they change with our circumstances. That’s not a peaceful way to live. God wants us to be emotionally stable in everything we go through.

James 1:8 tells us that “A double minded man is unstable in ALL of his ways.” Being double minded means we are always uncertain, two-faced and have misplaced loyalties. One minute we’re happy and in the same minute we’re sad, angry, depressed or mean. This isn’t just one day but it’s every single day. That is called being emotionally unstable. Living without being able to control your feelings is hard. It also means that we can be easily controlled by others and our circumstances. God loves us and wants us to have control over our emotions. He doesn’t like for us to be all over the place. He wants us to be stable and grounded in him. Ephesians 3:17-19 tells us “That christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that you, being grounded in love, you may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length and depth and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that you might be filled with all the fullness of God.” Being grounded in Christ gives us full access to his fullness. The fulness of God is stability in all we experience through our life.

With God we have full control over our emotions. In his word he tells us that we are able to overcome anything we face. He lets us know that we don’t have to be wavering in our hearts or thoughts because, he has already given us the victory. 2 Timothy 1:7 states, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” With our faith, hope and trust in God, we have a sound mind. We will make decisions and stick with them. We will do exactly what we’ve said we’re going to do. We will have peace in midst of our circumstances. We will not be controlled by others. We will not be afraid after we’ve made a decision. We will have a made up mind. will walk in the authority of a sound mind. We are children of God.

Don’t be double minded. Go to God and he will make us stable in all of our ways. Only God can give us the peace we seek in our mind. God loves us. He is for us. May God bless and keep you.
